Toothless grinder explained: how it works

What is a toothless grinder? Extremely fluffy grind, ideal for the vaporizer, gentle on trichomes and terpenes. Explained by NORTHGRIND®.

In short: A toothless grinder works without the usual grinding teeth. The herb is gently rolled over the screen and falls apart naturally. The result is an extremely fluffy, soft grind that is particularly well suited to the vaporizer. NORTHGRIND® offers two toothless grinders: Norderney with non-stick ceramic coating and Langeoog as an affordable aluminium grinder.

What is a toothless grinder?

A toothless grinder has an innovative design instead of pointed grinding teeth: the herb is gently rolled over the screen and falls apart carefully. This gentle crumbling produces a fluffier and softer end product than conventional grinders.

How does a toothless grinder work?

You fill the grinding chamber, close the grinder and turn. Instead of tearing the herb, the grinder rolls it over the screen. The ground material falls loosely into the collection chamber. Because there are no pointed teeth in the way, sticky material has fewer places to settle.

Frequently asked questions about the toothless grinder

What is a toothless grinder?

A toothless grinder has no conventional grinding teeth. The herb is gently rolled over a screen and falls apart by itself. Norderney and Langeoog from NORTHGRIND® are toothless grinders.

Why is the grind of a toothless grinder so fluffy?

The herb is not torn but gently rolled over the screen. The result is a fluffier and softer ground material than with conventional grinders.

Is a toothless grinder suitable for the vaporizer?

Yes. The loose, even and fluffy grind is very well suited to vaporizer use.

Are trichomes and terpenes better preserved?

Because the herb is crumbled more gently, trichomes and terpenes are stressed less than with a grinder with teeth.

What is the difference between toothless and with teeth?

A grinder with teeth crushes the material on pointed edges. A toothless grinder gently rolls it over the screen and delivers a fluffier grind. It is also easier to clean.
